AMG Web Design Process...
Out of intense complexities, intense simplicities emerge.
---Winston Churchill
Our WebSteps process is a development
methodology that includes concepts from many popular software design
philosophies. The process was developed as an effective approach to both
web and application development. It is a road map, a plan, a course of
specific actions to take an idea to a completed project within a specified
amount of time and within a specified budget. This process is designed to
be incremental and stresses communication between the development team and
client every "step" of the way. There are 5 major milestones in the WebSteps process - briefly outlined below:
Initiation/Discovery Phase
- Request – Agent assists prospect in filling out online request form and tell us you want a Web Quote, and check the box for FREE Consultation.
- Information gathering – Agent is contacted by client manager to
assess the opportunity.
- Estimate proposal – Agent and client manager agree on estimated
project cost and schedule.
- Decision – Agent and prospect determine whether or not they wish to
move forward with the opportunity.
- If the prospect to chooses to move forward with the opportunity a
final proposal and contract are submitted for approval.
- Deposit is sent to AMG.
Project Design Phase
- Resource Assignment – The project is staffed according to project
needs and specifications.
- Kick-Off Meeting – Project communication, project schedule, roles
and responsibilities, and deliverables are reviewed by the project team
and the project acceptor.
- Information architecture development. (Site-map, layout, target
audience analysis, usability issues, etc)
- Creative design development (overall visual concept is discovered)
The project team and client will set the client’s expectations and
educate the client on feasibility of requested work. Client will be
asked for examples online or elsewhere of how they would like the site
to appear and function. We must share a similar reality about the
project with the client by the end of this phase.
- Technical design development. (Database design, programming
strategies, etc.)
- All copy and visuals will be collected from client in this phase we
will not move on until all client provided materials are collected.
* After site-map and creative design are approved and signed off and
all “final” content has been received from the client, reviewed and signed
off only then do we move to the Development phase.
Development Phase
Here is where the clock starts ticking towards the site launch date. Work
will begin simultaneously on the front-end and back-end components of the
site.
Creative
- Images and content will be edited and manipulated to fit technical
development requirements.
- Front-End creation. (HTML, FLASH, Audio, Video, Navigation, etc.)
Technical
- Database(s) are created and tested.
- Business logic integration.
- Programming modules created.
- Middle-tier/Database integration with Front-end.
Deployment/Demonstrate Phase
- The site will be tested for usability and bugs.
- The site will be cross-browser tested.
- Any last changes minor changes to content are made. (Less than 8
hours)
- Unit and system testing.
- Quality assurance testing.
- Deployment sign-off from client.
- Final payment for project is made.
Delivery Phase
This is the actual final project delivery. (Launch of website, program
installation, etc.) Final project sign-off and maintenance schedule
initiation if any.
